The Sabbath!

Instituted at Creation on the Seventh Day of the week (Saturday), God blessed and sanctified the Sabbath day.

Jesus said: "The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.  Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath." Mark 2:27,28      Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath because He made it.  He is our Creator.  Colossians 1:16  "For by Him (Christ) all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, .......All things were created through Him and for Him.   John 1:1-3  "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ....All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made."

Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, and  many others in the old testament time were in harmony with God's law.  At the time of Moses, the people of Israel, in bondage to Egypt had forgotten God's law and the holy Sabbath.  In Exodus 20, God's law was given to them again through Moses at Mt Sinai. The fourth commandment begins with "remember" because they forgot.

Jesus and His followers kept the 7th day Sabbath.  After Jesus was buried, the women came to anoint the body.   Luke 23:54,56  " That day was the Preparation, and the Sabbath drew near....Then they returned and prepared spices and fragrant oils.  And they rested on the Sabbath according to the commandment."  The next day was the first day of the week, Sunday, and that was the day He arose.  The seventh day Sabbath was kept by His followers for hundreds of years.

In the year 321, Constantine, emperor of Rome, in order to satisfy the sun worshiping pagans, united pagans and Christians by passing the first Sunday law.

"Let all the judges and town people, and the occupation of all trades rest on the  venerable day of the Sun."  Recorded in the code of  Justinian,  Book III, title 12, law 3.

Catholic Mirror  Sept. 1893  "The Catholic Church for over one thousand years before the existence of a Protestant by virtue of her divine mission, changed the day from Saturday to Sunday."

John in the book of Revelation wrote under inspiration about the  last day people as commandment keeping people.  Revelation 14:12  "Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus."

Keeping the commandments is proof  that we love God.  John 14:15  "If you love Me, keep My commandments."  Read the book of 1st John.  It reveals how important God's law is in our relationship with God and knowing Him.

Isaiah records under inspiration, God's revelation about Sabbath worship in the new earth.  Isaiah 66:22,23  " For as the new heavens and the new earth which I will make shall remain before Me, says the Lord,.......And it shall come to pass that from one New Moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another, All flesh shall come to worship before Me, says the Lord."
